All Forms:

2 minute max time from entering the ring to the end of the form

No introduction of any type to begin form is allowed - bow to judges and begin

Traditional to extreme moves allowed

Jumps and spins are allowed as long as they go with your tradition

All Sparring​

Martial Arts pants and 3/4 sleeve top must be worn

Any two "official warning" = -1 point, each warning after is -1 point

Official warning = contact rules, out of bounds, illegal target, falling

Point Sparring:

2 minute round or first to 7 points

If a tie at 2 minutes - sudden death, next point wins

Target areas are above the waist like an upside down T - side to side and chest - the entire head is a target area

Contact to the body must be made

Under black belts contact to the head gear is allowed - no contact to the face. However a controlled non contact to the head or face which demonstrates contact could have been made may score a point.

Continuous Sparring:

2 side judges with score clickers in hand will watch 1 (one) competitor and click for each point at the end of 45 seconds the judges will switch competitors. This making it fair. Total points are added from both rounds

Continuous does not = full contact. Same contact rules as point sparring.

All Continuous Sparring competitors must abide by the following rules.

1. A groin cup must be worn by male athletes at all times during the match.

2. Team T-shirt, long pants, Headgear, foam gloves with no exposed fingers, mouthpiece, shin guard and foot protector (Must cover toes, heel and sides of foot) must be worn by all athletes at all times during the match
3. Junior Divisions and younger (Under 17) must also wear a face shield and chest protector

awarding points
Points shall be awarded when legal techniques are executed with accuracy and power to the legal scoring areas of the body.
1. All techniques must be well controlled. Techniques should not "strike through" or "carry through" the opponent.
Striking with excessive contact, or uncontrolled striking of any kind will lead to disqualification.
​
2. Clean and controlled scoring strikes, effective combination striking, effectiveness of fighter's defense, variation of strikes used during the match will gain positive impression points from the judges.
​
3. Each legal scoring technique executed will earn +1 point
​
4. Match Score for each contestant will be the sum of points totaled at the end of three rounds
​
5. Victory will be given to the contestant that has the greater sum of points
​
Negative Judges Criteria
Consistent rules violation, cautions made by referee, focus on overpowering opponent rather than demonstration of superior skill, lack of combination striking, lack of variation in types of strikes will lead to negative impression points from the judges. Athletes who consistently demonstrate negative sparring etiquette can receive a zero in impression points and depending on the severity of his/her violations, he/she may have points deducted as a result of his/her violations.

illegal techniques & penalties
warning & penalties
Referee will declare caution, warning and deduction penalties on all illegal techniques and actions. Competitors who perform any of the following illegal techniques and movements during the matches will receive a caution or a warning depending on the severity. A competitor does not have to be cautioned in order to receive an official warning.
A deduction of -1 points shall be made for every warning. If a competitor receives 3 warnings in a round, he/she is automatically loses the round and the round is awarded to the opponent.

Difference Between Caution & Warning
A "Caution" may be issued without stopping the action of the fight
A "Warning" is issued by stopping the action of the fight.

Illegal Techniques
1. Attacking the throat, kidneys, back, legs, joints, groin, and the back of the head or neck.
2. Attack using the knee, elbow, knife-hand, head-butts, thumb, shoulder or a spinning hand strike is not allowed.
3. Intentional overuse of strength to overpower opponent through strength and not technique
4. Clinching without reason - the act of holding on to the opponents hands, arms etc.
5. Turning one's back to the opponent, running away, falling down intentionally, intentional clinching, blind techniques, wrestling or ducking below the opponent's waist.
6. Intentionally leaving the ring without permission
8. Falsely feigning injury
9. Continuing to fight after the command of "stop" or "break" or after the end of the round
10. Oil on the face or the body
11. Striking below the belt, hooking or tripping
12. Any intentional attack on the groin area
13. Head Butting, strangling or shoving is not allowed
14. Hitting with the open part of the gloves or with the wrist is not permitted.
15. Lying down, wrestling or inactivity
16. Attacking the opponent while he is falling down, fallen, or trying to get up is prohibited
17. Hitting while hooking the opponent or pulling the opponent into the strike
18. Falling down intentionally to avoid a blow
19. "Spoiling." Intentionally avoiding the opponent by moving around the ring or clinching opponent in order to cut down on round time.
20. Refusing to withdraw after the order "Break"
21. Attempting to land a blow on the opponent immediately after a "break" order and withdrawing afterwards

2. Bleeding that results from an illegal strike (If a competitor causes opponent to bleed unintentionally using a legal technique, then a warning shall be given)
3. Unsportsmanlike conduct by the competitor, coach or parent
​
Referees
The referee has power to:
1. Stop the fight at any moment if he finds it to be too one-sided. The match will then be awarded to the superior competitor
2. Stop the fight at any moment if one of the fighters has received an unauthorized blow or is wounded, or if he/she considers the competitor unable to continue
3. Stop a fight at any moment if he finds unsportsmanlike behavior among the competitors. In such a case, he can disqualify one fighter.
4. Caution a competitor, stop the round to give out a warning and deduct a point depending on the severity of the violation
5. Disqualify a coach or a second who has broken the regulations, or the competitor if the coach or the second fails to obey the referee's orders
6. Disqualify an athlete with or without warning a competitor who has committed an offence

Judges
Judges have power to:
1. Add or deduct impression points
2. Determine the winner of the fight through impression points as well as scoring technique points
determining the winner
​
At the end of each round, the winner of the round is determined by the decision of the majority of the judges. The winner of two out of three rounds wins the match.
​
In case of a tie
For Juniors, Teens & Adult categories, there will be a 60 second Sudden-Death to determine the winner. If there is still a tie after the Sudden-Death round, the winner will be determined by the Chief Judge.
For the Kids category, the first to score will win the match

Each Bout will be 1 round of 1.5 Minutes

ties
If there is a tie after 1.5 minutes have passed, the match will go into sudden death overtime. The first person to score the next point will win. Fighters may have 30 seconds to rest before going into overtime if they need it.

out of bounds
When one foot is touching outside the boundary line, the fighter is out of bounds. The person who is in bounds can score on the person who is out of bounds, but the person who is out of bounds cannot score.

awarding points
1. If the referee sees an action that is considered to be a valid point, the referee will command STOP and immediately signal the point.
2. If one of the judges sees an action that is considered to be a valid point, the judge must signal to the referee immediately, the referee will command STOP and immediately signal the point.
3. After the referee commands STOP, each judge must make an immediate decision by hand-pointing to the competitor who is to receive the valid point. The referee counts the decisions of the judges and then points to the appropriate competitor being awarded the point. Point can only be awarded when there is a clear majority call from all the judges.

determining the winner
1. The competitor with the most points at the end of the bout will be declared the winner.
2. If a competitor or his/her coach forfeits the match, his/her opponent will be declared the winner automatically.
forfeiting
1. The competitor must raise one hand and verbally communicate to the referee that he/she is forfeiting the bout
2. The competitor's coach can also forfeit the bout by throwing in a white towel

Fees & Division Grouping

Early sign-up rate is ($50 for the first event and $15 for any additional events)

In the rare case that there are fewer than 4 people in a division we may combine the division with another division with similar weight classes and skill level.

Ranking & Awards

Competitors in each division will be ranked from highest to lowest according to match results. Top 3 athletes will receive certificates and medals according to their ranking. All other athletes will receive a ranking certificate. ​

Athletes competing for the first time in the first timer category will automatically receive a participation award certificate regardless of rank.
